We visited La Plata on June 1st, 2026. We had the nice house Vermouth, and some good Tapas. La Plata is one of Barcelona’s classic tapas bars, a place where simplicity and tradition come together beautifully. With its small, lively interior and old-fashioned atmosphere, it feels like stepping into a piece of the city’s culinary history. The menu is famously short, allowing the kitchen to focus on a handful of dishes prepared with consistency and care. The house vermouth is a highlight and an essential part of the experience. Served in the traditional style, it is aromatic, slightly bittersweet, and wonderfully refreshing. The tapas are fresh, flavorful, and unpretentious. Favorites such as fried fish, tomato salad, and cured meats showcase quality ingredients rather than elaborate presentation. Portions are ideal for sharing, encouraging diners to sample a little of everything.

Very small a place in a alley. Four items on the menu. Ordered one each plus a beer. The anchovies were over cooked or repeatedly fried. The salad was fine, the tomatoes and onions were fresh. The bread was stale both under the sausage and anchovy. The beer was fine. The service was effective.

It was my 2nd time back visiting Bar La Plata after my 1st visit in 2016. Fell in love with their deep fried anchovies which without fail, i had 6 plates of it. Owner was extremely friendly as usual back than. Atmosphere was fabulous, tiny yet cosy.

Simple and small, with good quality food and wine. This is the perfect place for a quick tapa and a small wine. Flavors are good, ambiance is good and whatever you order, it is served super fast. Can be crowded and then 5 mins later you have quite space. Nice spot for locals, or those who visit Barcelona very briefly.

If you want to experience Barcelona like a local, Tapas Bar La Plata is the absolute closest you can get. The vibe is incredibly urban and authentic—packed with locals, which tells you everything you need to know. The tapas are simple but absolutely spectacular. We had the classic tomato bread with salted fish (anchovies) and the perfectly fried small fish (pescaíto frito). Everything pair beautifully with their house wine on tap and the traditional homemade vermouth. It’s loud, lively, and completely genuine. A must-visit if you want a true taste of the city’s real culture!
